The charming city of Sunnyvale, California, is located in the heart of the Silicon Valley and is nearby multiple booming cities such as San Jose, Mountain View, Cupertino, Santa Clara and Milpitas in addition to many popular companies such as Apple, Google, NASA, and Lockheed Martin. Sunnyvale is an ideal location nearby many tourist attractions. During your stay, be sure to visit the beautiful Winchester Mystery House.

Visit the Winchester Mystery House

Step into fascinating, haunted history from within the heart of Sunnyvale and witness the beautiful workings of the inner mind of Sarah Winchester at the Winchester Mystery House. Open daily at 9:00 AM and offers complimentary on-site parking for guests, the Mystery House is a must-see. Tour the house, the gardens and stable, the rifle and antique museums, or enjoy the large gift shop and cafe and prepare for a marvelous adventure.

Beginning with the popularity of the first Winchester rifle crafted in 1886, Sarah Winchester feared the ghosts of those killed by these popular rifles would haunt her forever. In an attempt to confuse visiting spirits, Winchester hired construction workers to expand her home, day and night, until she passed away. Now, this jaw-dropping Victorian mansion consists of 160 rooms, mysterious winding hallways, stairwells leading to nothing, and top-story doors that open to a plunging drop down to the expanse of gardens below. Experience a home like no other at the Winchester Mystery House.

Enter the Mystery House through the large gift shop where a large array of books, movies, toys, souvenirs, gifts, and collectibles are available for purchase. Here guests can choose from a wide variety of tour packages. The mansion tour, just over an hour long, winds guests through the bizarre home and explores the rich Winchester history. End this tour at the rifle room/museum where each Winchester Rifle model is encased behind glass, then walk across the hall to the antique museum where visitors may observe a large variety of items used by individuals who lived in the house during the time of World War I, in addition to marketing posters and other Winchester products manufactured once the need for rifles greatly reduced. For a small additional charge, and for guests ten years of age, the Explore More tour takes guests into areas of the Mansion that have been closed off for decades and/or never before available for public viewing. Delve deeper into the puzzle created to keep spirits at bay. Purchase the Grounds Tour to explore both the home and the acreage. Many of Sarah Winchester’s original trees remain intact, in addition to over 10,000 hedges, mythological statues, flora, and fauna. The garden provides unique photography opportunities and exquisite views of the exterior of the home. Some say the spirits of the staff still remain. Winchester Mystery House also provides thrilling, seasonal tours and hosts private events.

For additional fun for guests of all ages, visit Sarah’s Attic Shooting Gallery & Arcade for vintage arcade games and an exciting play-shooting gallery with over thirty-eight targets. And if exploration gets your stomach rumbling, step into the Mystery Cafe for multiple healthy options delivered from local farms. Enjoy a variety of fresh salads, paninis and soups, gourmet burgers, shareable platters, and refreshing beverages.
